Non-competitive enzyme inhibition can be explained by which model of enzyme function

the induced fit model

the lock and key model

both a and b

neither a nor b

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Lock and key theory .the shape of the enzyme's active is complementary to that it's substrate (2) Induced fit theory .The active site is flexibility of shape , thus ,when an appropriate substrate comes in contact with the enzyme's active site , would change to fit with the substrate .There are 2types of inhibitors reversible and irreversible. Reversible inhibitors are un competitive and noncompetitive inhibitors Uncompetitive inhibits only binds to enzyme substrate complex .Non competitive inhibitors and substrate binding to enzymes .

1. Saturation of the rate of enzyme-catalyzed reactions occurs at high enzyme concentration   at high substrate concentration at low substrate concentration by allosteric regulation 2. The induced fit is an improved model for enzyme function than the lock and key model because it considers considers the Gibbs free energy of the reaction considers specificity of the enzyme considers the catalytic activity considers the rate of reaction
