What if we inactivate DNA ligase during replication of DNA, will the cell pass S checkpoint and go to G2?
The function of DNA ligase is to be present as a glue to the particles to be attached. And if there is no ligase there will be no attachment of foreign particles into the sequence.
According to the question , if there is no presence of the enzyme DNA ligase the cell would not be able to go to the S phase . Because DNA ligase 1 is an enzyme which needs to be there in the nuclear replication site/location during S phase.
And more over if the DNA ligase enzyme is absent then there will be accumulation of broken DNA strands which lead to ligl deficiency. So by this we can conclude the presence of the enzyme DNA ligase is very important and also necessary to reach the S phase and also to perform replication.
