Most scientific hypotheses have associated with them one or more experiments. What is the purpose of an experiment in relation to a hypothesis?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

A hypothesis is used to predict a relationship between two variables based on the observations.

The prediction in the hypothesis does not concur a truth unless and until it is verified.

In order to verify the hypothesis and find out the exact relationship between variables , Experiments are designed.

The experiments give crucial results which verifies the hypothesis prediction of being true or false.

Thus experiment is the credibiity test of the hypothesis which is based on observations.

what is the ideal response to this discussion post? The scientific method is a process that allows scientists to explore the observations they make and answer the questions they have (“Scientific Method”, n.d.). The process can be modified when scientists cannot directly test something. The goal of the scientific method is to “discover cause and effect relationships” (“Scientific Method”, n.d.). Scientists can also back up and repeat steps while they are going through the process (“Scientific Method”, n.d.). The steps...

Activity 1: Scientific Reports You may have heard the question “If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?” A similar question can be asked about experiments. “If a researcher performs an experiment and never publishes the result has science been performed?” Many people would say no because science is the accumulation of knowledge. If the results of an experiment are not published, knowledge is not gained. The final...
