Explain in DETAIL: how and why we can use DCPIP to study the light-dependent reactions of photosynthesis.
Amount of photosynthesis can be easily calculated by using DCPIP. In light dependent reaction of photosynthesis, DCPIP act as redox dye. During the oxidization of the DCPIP, it get converted into blue. After the oxidization it will have high absorption capacity. When we perform reduction reaction on the DCPIP, then it will get converted into colorless. Within a photosynthetic system, opening it to the light will remove the color of dye(due to reduction) and it will create a light dependent reaction in chloroplast . The colorless DCPIP have higher light transmitting capacity.
