During actin polymerization, ATP Hydrolysis takes place by actin binding proteins occurs soon after G actin binds ATP.

Monomer of actins are called g actin or globular actin which are in ATP bound form , some of the gactin assembles to form filamentous or F actin . Polymerization have three sequential phases such as nucleation, elongation and steady state . G actins forms head to tail to form F or filamentous actin. Actin filaments have two end one positive or growing end another is negative or barbed end. Rate of polymerization is high in positive end .
