Compare and contrast Innate Immunity and Adaptive Immunity ?

Innate immunity:-

• Non-specific and natural.

• present since birth.

• It does not involves antigen specific response.

• Always present in the body.

• No immunological memory.

• They develop in very less time i.e hours.

• They can be inherited from parents to their progeny.

• potency is very less.

• Cells like phagocytic, leukocyte, natural killer, mast cells,etc are involved.

Adaptive immunity:-

• Specific and Acquired.

• not present since birth it is acquired during life time.

• It involves antigen specific immune response.

• Develops only upon exposure to specific antigen.

• Posses immunological memory.

• Requires time to develop i.e days.

• It cannot be inherited to further generation.

• Potency is very high.

• Cells like killer CD8+ T cells, helper CD4+T cells, B-cells, antigen presenting cells, etc are involved.
