The production of Acetyl Co-enzyme A by the membrane of the mitochondrion is used in?

Answer #1

Answer:

The production of Acetyl Co-enzyme A by the membrane of the mitochondrion is used in Citric acid cycle.

Explanation:

Acetyl Co-enzyme A is produced from pyruvate. Pyruvate undergoes oxidativ decarboxylation and produces Acetyl Co-enzyme A. This Acetyl Co-enzyme A enters into citric acid cycle, where it undergoes a complete oxidation and produces NADH2, FADH2, ATP and CO2. This citric acid cycle is also called as Kreb's cycle or Tricarboxylic acid cycle. The citric acid cycle is the second stage of aerobic cellular respiration.

ii. During the transfer of acetyl CoA from the mitochondrion to the cytosol, malate will be generated in the cytosol. Although malate can be brought back into the mitochondrion directly, it will instead be converted into pyruvate which then enters the mitochondrion. Why does this happen? 1 point a. The conversion of malate into pyruvate generates NADPH which can be used in fatty acid synthesis. b. Movement of malate into the mitochondrion requires a lot of energy. c. In the...

The enzyme acetyl-CoA synthetase does the two step reaction below to attach acetate to coenzyme A. The first step requires nucleophilic attack by the deprotonated carboxylic acid of acetate on ATP. Assume the cell cytosol is at pH 6.76 and the pKa of acetic acid/acetate is 4.76. Question 1A: what percentage of the acetic acid/acetate conjugate pair is in the deprotonated acetate state? Question 1B: What would the pH of the cell be, if 50% of the acetate is protonated?

Martian microbe 4 has a new type of lactate dehydrogenase that is a membrane-bound enzyme that oxidizes lactate to pyruvate, donating 2 electrons to ubiquinone and pumping out 4 protons to the periplasm per lactate. What is the Delta p that can be generated by this enzyme, given an Eh of -185 mV for pyruvate/lactate, and +100 mV for ubiquinone/ubiquinol?
