Question

Name the components and the function of each of a CRISPR/Cas9 genetic editing system.

Name the components and the function of each of a CRISPR/Cas9 genetic editing system.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

There are two components of Crispr Cas 9 they are
1. Guide RNA
2. Cas Protein
Guide RNA is short RNA which is synthetic in nature and it is made up of scaffold pattern which is important for cas binding which describes the modified genomic target.

Cas Protein is a protein which is drawn by naturally producing genome editing system present in bacteria. It is important for immunological protection of bacteria opposing the plasmid as well as DNA viruses. It is important for cutting DNA and hence help to alter the genome of cell

Consider the CRISPR-Cas9 system for gene editing. When introduced into a eukaryotic cell, the Cas9 makes double stranded breaks in the DNA that are repaired by the eukaryotic cell. The ____________directs Cas9 to the correct target gene(s). ________________ is an efficient eukaryotic repair system, but often results in mistakes like insertions or deletions. _________________ only operates during G1 and S, operates rarely, but can be used to specifically substitute bases or even replace an entire gene. a. In CRISPR gene editing match the molecule with its function cas9 nuclease-- sgDNA-- donor DNA-- A. target mRNAs for degradation B. cleaves sgRNA for maturation C. produces double stranded breaks in target D. contains an edited sequence that will be used for homology dependent repair E. identify target DNA sequences for cleavage I think sgRNA=E and donor DNA=D, but can someone check that and help me with cas9 nuclease?

A system with five components, which functions if at least three of the components function, is designed to work outdoors. Suppose that the components function with probability 0.9 if the temperature is above freezing, and they function with probability 0.7 if the temperature is below freezing. The weather forecast for tomorrow predicts there is a probability of 0.40 that the temperature will be below freezing. What is the probability that the system functions tomorrow?

The first component has 9 independent elements that each work with probability 0.92. If at least 6 of the elements are working then the first component will function. The second component has 6 independent elements that work with probability 0.85. If at least 4 of the elements are working then the second component will function. (a) What is the probability...
