Curcumin is a poly-phenol which has an anti-cancer properties, hence, it is used to in different breast cancer cell line such as basal and luminal subtype to figure out in vitro cytotoxic activity of cell death of curcumin on different breast cancer lines.

MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 are breast cancer lines but MCF-7 is luminal basal cell line whereas MDA-MB-231 are basal type. MCF-7 treatment include hormone like estrogen and MDA-MB-231 treatment include paclitaxel treatment.
