  1. Which type of microscope is commonly used for cell culture? Why? Compare with at least two different microscopes other than electron microscopes and fluorescence microscopes.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

In cell culture, inverted microscope is commonly used. This is to visualise live cells through the bottom of the cell culture plate.

Compare between upright and inverted microscope:

In the Upright microscopes, the position of the objectives is that they are placed on the top of the stage..On the other hand, in the inverted Microscopes, the position of the objectives is that they are placed below the stage. While upright microscope is used to study fixed samples or the samples that are squeezed between the slide and the coverslip, inverted microscope is used for live cell imaging.
