discuss how human population growth can be exponential

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Human growth is exponential because under ideal conditions, population can grow at an increasing rate. It is because humans start to grow slowly and with the increase in the size of the population, the growth rate also increases. We can consider the human population to be growing at exponential growth rate as the growth rate of the individual remains same or sees no changes despite the change in the overall population. This means the population starts growing at a faster pace as it grows larger.

Growth of a population can be represented by simple mathematical models. Write the equation for exponential population growth. Write the logistic equation for population growth. Explain in your own words the meaning of the additional term in the logistic equation. Populations may not grow exactly as predicted by the logistic equation. Discuss one reason for this.

With exponential growth rates we often calculate “doubling times.” Hypothetically, if the world’s human population was growing exponentially and doubling every 60 years, and you were told all the areas suitable for humans would be fully occupied by the year 2100, what year would the world’s human habitats be HALF occupied

Suppose that a population of deer is experiencing exponential growth, with r= 1.5 individuals/year. If the population size now is 4, how many deer will be added to the population in the next year? If necessary, truncate your answer to a whole number. Show your work. Suppose that a population of deer is experiencing exponential growth, with r= 0.89 individuals/year. If the starting population size was 8, how many deer will be in the population after 5 years? If necessary,...
