Explain why deserts and grasslands are located at specific latitudes
The deserts are located around 30 degrees N and S latitudes in both the hemispheres. This is because hot air from the equator rises, then cools, and loses moisture. Then, dry air comes down at 30 degrees north and south of equator. So, most of the deserts of the world are located at a latitude of 30 degrees. Grasslands are typically located between rainforests and deserts. They typically receive a rainfall of around 600 mm in a year whereas deserts will receive a rainfall of only 300 mm in a year.
