Given that the distance between A and B gene is 20cM and they are present in cis-configuration, it means that both dominant allele on one chromosome and both recessive on the other chromosome as shown in the figure.

Distance between the gene is directly proportional to the frequency of recombination between the gene. Distance between A and B is 20cM. So the maximum percentage of recombinant gametes will be 20%. Rest will be the parental type. In the parental type, AB will be half and half will be ab. So the proportion of ab gametes is 40%.

So answer is option D - 40%
