There are two types of morphology 1) External morphology 2) Internal Morphology

Morphological characters are use in the classification of an organism

The morphological characters focuses on the similarity of the anatomical features. The species that displays similar anatomical features are more closely related, meaning have branched off most recently.

The molecular characters are the distribution and composition of chemical substances in an organism

i.e. DNA, RNA and Protein.

Molecular character focuses on the similarity of the DNA sequences and similar proteins. The similarity in the DNA sequences and the gene expression pattern shows the closely related organism
