My enterotube II results are as follows:

Positive for glucose,lysine,orinthine, lactose,citrate

neagtive for: H2S,indole,VP,Dulcitol,PA,Urea,

Variable for: sorbitol, arabinose and Adonitol.

I tried to identify an unknown bacteria with the enterotube identification system, but the numbers I get to do not refer to any bacteria in the enterocode book. Based on these data, does anyone known what bacteria I might have? Thanks

Answer #1

Let us start by understanding the basic principles of enterotube II test. It is a ready to use identification system for easy identification of oxidase negative gram negative rods and Enterobacteriaceae.

According to the positive results for glucose, lysine, ornithine, lactose and citrate the bacterium could be Klebsiella pneumoniae.

With the exception of VP and DULCITOL rest all the results are in the agreement to give the indication of the presence of Klebsiella pneumoniae. So you can label the bacteria as Klebsiella pneumoniae because of closest association with these results.
