Individuals of genotype AAbbDdEEFF weigh 24 lbs. and individuals of genotype AabbDdEeff weigh 16 lbs. Calculate the contribution of one additive allele to weight. Capital letters represent additive alleles, and lower case letters represent non-additive alleles.

Weight of individual of genotype AabbDdEeff = 16lbs

let weight of individual with all non-additive genes aabbddeeff = xlbs

Weight of individual with genotype AAbbDdEEFF= x + 7 *( weight added by each additive allele  (y) = 24 .....(1)

Weight of individual with genotype AabbDdEeff = x + 3y = 16 ............(2)

Subtract equation 1 and 2

x+7y - (x+3y) = 24-16

x+7y-x-3y = 8

4y = 8

y=2

Therefore, contribution of each additive allele = 2lbs
