If you ran your samples on a 2% agarose gel rather than a 0.8% agarose gel describe how your bands would appear, and explain why they would appear this way
In gel electrophoresis, DNA strands are fragmented under the
influence of the electric field as DNA molecule is negatively
charged due to the presence of phosphate groups.
The concentration of the agarose gel will affect in two ways:
-Higher the concentration of the gel, lower will be the mobility of
fragments under the electric field and DNA will be fragmented into
smaller lengths.
-The pore size of the agarose gel determines the distance between
the fragments of the DNA. More the concentration, lesser will the
pore size and hence lesser will be the distance between two
fragments.
