Describe two properties of a transformed human cell vs. a normal human cell and how these properties can lead to increased tumor cell growth.

Answer #1

Normal cells have a shape of normal pattern and you can find some irregularity.
When you perform to prepare a normal cell, when a cell grows and when cell touches then the growth stops by contact inhibition. Transform cells (Cancer or Tumor cells) have a shape that is irregular and in the nucleus it has multiple nuclei that cause it to be abnormal .
In abnormal cells there is no contact inhibition and the cells grow multiple layer which leads to tumor or cancer cell.
Healthy cell does not turn into a cancer cell overnight. Its behaviour gradually changes, a result of damage to between three and seven of the hundreds of genes that control cell growth, division and life span. First, the cell starts to grow and multiply. Over time, more changes may take place.

1) You have cloned the human Insulin (Ins) gene into the pDrive plasmid, and transformed bacteria using (0.25 ug) of this pDrive/Ins (as per the protocol described in this lab). Using the information below, calculate the number of molecules of Insulin that have been cloned into your entire culture after 4 hours of growth after incubation. a. The transformation efficiency of this reaction is 105 colonies/ µg intact pDrive/Ins plasmid. b. pDrive plasmid has a copy number of 100 molecules...

Cancer can be defined as an abnormal proliferation of cells that defy the normal regulatory controls observed by normal cells. Recently, histone deacetylation therapies have been attempted in the treatment of certain cancers [reviewed by Delcuve et al. (2009)]. Specifically, the FDA has approved histone deacetylation (HDAC) inhibitors for the treatment of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. Why does histone acetylation might be associated with cancer? Low acetylation rates often lead to increased cell proliferation, the major cause of tumor. Normally, acetylation...
