Answer #1

Correct answer: d, It is heritable. The main feature of epigene is that it is heritable. Epigenetics is the branch of science that study the heritable changes in gene expression and is not attributed to alterations/ mutations in DNA sequence. The non-genetic factors cause the organism's genes to behave or express themselves differently. Epigene maintains the genome stablity. Epigene describes the heritable phenotypic change caused due to external or environmental factors or can be a part of normal development. The predominant epigenetics mechanisms are DNA methylation, modification of chromatin structure, loss of imprinting and non-coding RNA. These epigenetic modifications last through cell divisions for the duration of the cell's life and may also last for multiple generations even though they do not involve changes in underlying DNA sequence of the organism.
