True or false: Each turn of the Calvin cycle produces one molecule of glucose. If false, please make it a true statement.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

False.

Explaination:- on every three steps of the calvin cycle the carbon of the carbon dioxide is fixed that means three atoms of carbon are fixed from three molecules of carbon dioxide during this carbon fixation stage carbon dioxide is attached to RuBP by an enzyme called rubisco the resulting six carbon product quickly splits into two molecules of three carbon compound called 3-phosphoglycerate when three carbon dioxide molecule enters this cycle then six molecules of 3-phosphoglycerate is produced. The 3 phosphoglycerate molecule then enters the reduction stage.

each molecule of glucose metabolized via glycolysis and the tricarboxylic acid cycle produces 25 molecules of ATP per glucose molecule. This seems to be incorrect. The number seems to be 32 molecules of ATP per glucose molecule. Using glycolysis, the tricarboxylic acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation, derive this correct number and show how you reached this figure.
