The light microscope employs visible light to detect small objects. It is the most well-known and well-used research tool in biology. It uses focused light and lenses to magnify a specimen, usually a cell. A light microscope can view cell walls, vacuoles, cytoplasm, chloroplasts, nucleus and cell membrane. It uses lenses and ligh tto magnify cell parts. However, they usually can achieve a maximum of 2000x magnification which is not sufficient to see many other tiny organelles.
