What is the right answer and why? And why are each of the wrong choices wrong? Please explain:

1.) A condition in which one gene pair masks the expression of a nonallelic gene pair is called:

- epistasis

-codominance

-dominance

-recessive

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Epistasis

Epistasis is non allelic interaction between alleles at different gene loci. Alleles (epistatic) at one gene locus mask the effect of alleles at other gene locus (hypostatic).

Codominance is the type of inheritance in which two alleles are equally dominant over each other and heterozygotes show a variegated phenotype.

Dominance is the type of condition in which one allele is completely dominant over the other allele which is recessive.

Please give a good rating.

In golden retrievers, the D/d gene codes for an enzyme that produces a pigment. The dominant allele (D) results in a golden pigment, while the recessive allele (d) codes for red pigment. Additionally, the V/v gene produces a transport protein responsible for depositing the pigment produced by D/d into the hair. When the dominant V allele is present, the color expressed by D/d will be deposited and the dog will be that color (golden or red). However, allele v is...

What is the difference between reproductive cloning and therapeutic cloning? Group of answer choices Therapeutic cloning supplies cells for repair of diseased or injured organs, whereas reproductive cloning produces a cloned organism. Reproductive cloning uses pluripotent cells, whereas therapeutic cloning does not. Reproductive cloning uses embryonic stem cells, whereas therapeutic cloning does not. Therapeutic cloning uses nuclei of adult cells transplanted into enucleated nonfertilized eggs. A mutation that prevents the addition of the 5’cap would most likely have what effect?...

We have a population of snakes. They are either all black or black with red stripes. We make the following crosses to help us determine the gene interaction: A cross between the solid black snakes and the striped snakes results in a 1:1 ratio of solid black to striped snakes among the offspring. A cross between two striped snakes results in progeny in the ratio of 2 striped for every 1 solid black. Assume that these outcomes are manifested by...
