3. What is deep-sea fan? How is related to the formation of continental rise?[2+4=6 marks]

The question is from marine biology

Answer #1

Deep sea fan is the accumulation of land-derived sediment on the deep seafloor.

They can also be understood as the underwater geological structures associated with large-scale sediment deposition and formed by turbidity currents.

Because the continental slope is steep, it's more difficult for sediments to settle there, so the sediment accumulates at the continental rise instead.
