We know that epithelial cells of the proximal convoluted tubule have numerous microvilli. why are the kicrovilli beneficial for the process if reabsorption?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Proximal Convoluted Tubule helps in regulating the filtrate pH as rhe hydrogen ions which are present in the interstitium is exchanged for the bicarbonate ions which are present in the filtrate.
Microvilli these are very small microscopic protrusions that will minimize the volume increase also it will maximize the surface area for the process of diffusion. Also it performs the function of secrerion, absorption, and cell adhesion and in small intestine these microvilli will increase the surface area for the nutrient absorption.
