When a new strain is found to cause a desease, we should know its sequence for its drug and vaccine development. Analysis of new mutated genes and its implications, creation of new sequences to code for new proteins, all these involve the knowledge bioinformatics. Hence, it is in increasing importance in today's era of microbiology.
