Platyhelminthes are divided into 3 lessons: turbellarians (or Turbellaria), trematodes (or Trematoda) and cestodes (or Cestoda).

Turbellarians are unfastened-living platyhelminthes and their primary representative is the planaria (Dugesia tigrina). Trematodes are parasites, they live internal a number and the schistosome (Schistosoma mansoni) that causes schistosomiasis is an example. Cestodes are parasites too, they do no longer have digestive tubes and theircells are nourished through absorption of nutrients from the host; their most famous representative are the pork and pork taenias (Taenia saginata and Taenia solium) that parasite human beings.
