Example of a freshwater flatworm: Platyhelminthes

PHYSIOLOGICAL PROBLEM:

Platyhelminthes such as planarias has much more concentrated internal environment in solutes than the external environment. Therefore they have tendency to gain water. These organisms so require a drainage system to avoid cell death which is caused by excessive water.

SOLUTION :

The solution to this problem is : If there is presence of protonephridia which is located along longitudinal channels in the animal body. As protonephridia have ciliated cells, the flame cells that helps to push water outside the body through excretory pores.....
