True or False.

Macrovicariant speciation is speciation that occurs when a single species is split into two or more large subgroups that are found in different places.

A full explanation would be tremendous,

Thank you!

Answer #1

Due to the presence of physical barrier between the subpopulations , the geneflow between the population will decrease or decrease to 0. This will slowly result in different dynamics taking place in the subpopulations, slowly they will become reproductively isolated due to many evolutionary effects like mutations , specific mating, different environmental conditions, genetic drift acting, founder effects, and natural selection etc.

All these effects will combine and shape the genotype frequencies and thus allelic frequency in th populations to differ and slowly loose or gain some new allele varients or genes. Thus slowly differenjng from each other , and evolving into new species.

So, it is True.

Most speciation (formation of new species) occurs allopatrically. This means A. new species usually form when one species lives in the same location and same habitat for a long time B. members of one species become separated geographically so that gene flow is stopped between the new populations eventually resulting in enough changes between the populations that they become different species C. a catastrophy causes the formation of a new species by a bottleneck effect D. gene flow between different...

Are these statements true or false 1. Evolution serves a purpose, strives for perfection, or occurs “in order to help a species survive.” 2. Populations and species can evolve over time, but individuals cannot evolve. 3.Two populations are separated, but individuals migrate back and forth about twice a year. In this case speciation will never occur.

Over 20 species of fish have descended from a single common ancestral species. Fossil evidence shows that each of these species evolved when fluctuating water levels totally isolated small sub-populations of the original ancestral species into several different small lakes and prevented interbreeding. Today they are all completely sympatric (all live in the same large lake.) We can identify them all accurately by their morphology. With this evidence, how best can we hypothesize what type of speciation was involved ?...

List if True or False---Scientists agree about how to define species, especially human species. List if True or False---Because of all our advances in medicine and technology, humans are no longer evolving. List if True or False---Humans are considered an advanced species because they are found at the end of the phylogenetic tree. List if True or False---As scientists discover more and more hominin fossils, they may be able to define the genes that distinguish humans from other species.
