Urine sample which is not to be tested within an hour should be stored in an air tight seal and refrigerated to prevent bacterial growth in the sample for around 24 hours . If the sample is to be stored for more than 24 hours chemical preservation is the method.

Theclassical symptoms of UTI are pain in the abdomen , burning and pain during micturition, frequent urination , fever and chills , fatigue etc.

Collecting midstream urine prevents bacterial contamination from hands , collecting tube or from the urethra.urine is normally sterile if bacteria is present it indicates UTI .
