Question 1: Discuss transgenic and genome editing studies from your reading?
Transgenic in simple terms means one or more DNA sequesnces from other species have been inserted using artifucial means. This insertion takes place when foreign DNA is injected into a fertilized egg or a developing embryo.
Transgenic animals and crops have been commercially produced. Most common examples are food crops like soya and corn that have been genectically modified to be resistant to pests. These are also known as GMOs or genetically modified organisms.
Genome editing studies - It is a group of technologicaly advanced procedures that give scientists the ability to change an organism's DNA. These technologies allow genetic material to be added, removed, or altered at particular locations in the genome.
eg. CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing exploits the CRISPR-Cas system to modify a genome
