Isolating microorganisms from a Marine Environment:
How might the media choice (i.e. the choice of using TSA rather than marine agar for example), effect the organisms we grow from our environmental sample?
Think about what is in the different medias and the types of organisms that therefore may grow on them.
Please be specific
For isation of desired type of microorganisms from particular environment, we need to create the environment alike physical conditions in preparing media, such as pH, temperature(incubation), salt concentration etc. for better growth of the microorganisms of that environment. If you grow marine sample in TSA the microorganisms of this environment cannot grow optimally as their optimal condition for growth would be high salt, low temperature. So you need to modify TSA increasing salt conc. and incubation at optimal temperature.
