What are multiple alleles? Is there dominance in multiple alleles?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Multiple alleles: Anybody of a sequence of three or more similar allelic varieties of a gene, best of that may exist in any regular, diploid character. Two human examples of more than one-allele genes are the gene of the ABO blood group device, and the human-leukocyte-associated antigen (HLA) genes. The ABO machine in people is managed by three alleles, typically known as IA, IB, and IO (the "I" stands for isohaemagglutinin).

There are two types of dominaces in multiple alleles codominance, Incomplete dominance:

Codominance:Pattern where phenotypes of both homozygous parents are produced in heterozygous offspring so that both alleles are equally expressed

Incomplete dominance:Inheritance pattern where the phenotype of a heterozygote is intermediate between those of the two homozygous neither allele of the pair is dominant but combine and display a new trait
