what are the advantage and disadvantages of using microarrays methods?

what are the advantage and disadvantages of using microarrays methods?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Microarray is used for studying the molecular basis of interactions on a level that is impossible using conventional analysis. This technique help to examine the expression of thousands of genes simultaneously.

Advantages:-

1) It helps in simultaneous analysis of multiple genes

2) It allows comparision of gene expression i.e healthy vs not healthy

3) It can categorize the diseases into subgroups

4) It has low sample consumption

5) very sensible as compared to other HT technologies

Disadvantages:-

1) protein arrays require validation experiment because of false positives can be detected.

2) The highest array report till now is only include 9000 different protein

3) whole eukaryotic protein array still not have been reported

4) Arrayed protein may not be functional on surface

5) It is very expensive method

please give a thumbs up if the answer help you. Thank you!
