animal cells have higher surface area to volume ratio than plant cells, The two animal cells that have high SA:V ratio are neurons and enterocytes (intestinal cells). Cell ha specialized structures that correspond to its specialized functions. For example eneterocytes have villi, cellular processes that increase the SA:V ration, why is this needed? to increase absorption as these cells of the intestines are meant to absorb the nutrients in food, hence they develop structures to aid the function.
