Which of the below structures is NOT part of the endomembrane system?

nucleus

golgi apparatus

rough endplasmic reticulum

smooth endoplasmic reticulum

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Ans) Nucleus

The cytoplasm of all eukaryotic cells has interconnected membrane sacs which are known as endomembrane system. The cell organelles fall in endomembrane system are a membrane of the nucleus, rough endoplasmic reticulum, smooth endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi complex, liposomes, and endosomes. The endomembrane system mainly involved in the protein synthesis, modification of proteins, sorting of proteins and transport of proteins to the plasma membrane. The proteins synthesized by the ribosomes of rough endoplasmic reticulum are first transported to the Golgi complex where it is modified and targeted to either lysosomes or to the plasma membrane.
