3.) What are the differences under the microscope among the three muscle cell types?

4.) Build a dichotomous key to all the tissues you have seen in the lab. For this, you can use any of their morphological characteristics (under the microscope) but not their physiological functions.

Answer #1

Answer 3) These differences can be seen under microscope among the three muscle cell types;

  • Skeletal muscles; These muscle cells form a long fiber and appear as cross-striated elongated fibers having multiple nuclei in each cell when observed under a microscope. these are well organized in strips with less branching as compared to cardiac muscle cell types.
  • Smooth muscles; These muscles cells are short in size and contain only single nucleus per cell. these muscle cells appear as short non-striated fibers under the microscope.
  • Cardiac muscles; These muscle cells are striated but not highly organized. these muscle cells appear as striated but branched and less organized fibers under the microscopes.

Experiment 3: The Importance of Cell Cycle Control Some environmental factors can cause genetic mutations that result in a lack of proper cell cycle control (mitosis). When this happens, the possibility for uncontrolled cell growth occurs. In some instances, uncontrolled growth can lead to tumors, which are often associated with cancer, or other biological diseases. In this experiment, you will review some of the karyotypic differences that can be observed when comparing normal, controlled cell growth and abnormal, uncontrolled cell...
