Ans. Some argue that protozoan and algae could not belong to the same kingdom protista. Though most algae and protozoa both are unicellular eukaryotes. They have very much difference. It is because algae are more plant like and protozoa are more animal like.

Algae show many characteristics of kingdom plants. It has the chlorophyll and also many algae are multicellular. They show autotrophic mode of nutrition. So they are more plant like.

Some protozoa are do not show character of the protista. Though they are unicellular but they show more animal like character. They are more animal like. They are also called as the primitive members of the animals. They show heterotrophic nutrition, they show holozoic nutrition.

So, we can conclude that , they are both very much different from each other, and can not be placed in the same kingdom protista.
