Set up two microfuge tubes and label control and Lat-A. Add1 ml of the Dicty suspension to eachmicrofuge tube. Add 1 μl of Lat-A to that tube of cells. Mix gently and allow to incubate 20 minutes with the tubes laying on their sides. (What is the final concentration of Lat-A if the stock solution is 1 mM?

Answer #1

We have 2 microfuge tubes with 1 ml (1000 μl) Dicty suspension each. In Lat-A tube we added 1μl of Lat-A (1 mM), making its volume 1001 μl.

1μl of Lat-A (1 mM) + 1000 μl Dicty suspension = 1001 μl final volume

Using formula C1V1 = C2V2

(1 mM) * (1 μl) = (C2) * (1001 μl)

C2 = ((1 mM) * (1 μl)) / (1001 μl) = 1 / 1001 mM = 0.00099 mM = 0.99 * 10-3 mM = 0.99 μM

(Note 1 mM = 103 μM)

Final concentration of Lat-A is 0.99 μM (can be rounded as 1μM)
