When we are considering the Pathogen life cycle, it is looked at from the pathogen's perspective,i.e. the events which occurs during the entire life of the pathogen.It includes the various forms (such as cysts, gametocytes, schizont, merozoite etc in plasmodium vivax life cycle) and stages the pathogen undergoes, the infection causing phase of the pathogen, sexual and asexual reproduction etc.
