If a cell with 8 total chromosomes (2n =8) divides by meiosis, how many DNA MOLECULES will each nucleus contain after telophase I and cytokinesis is complete?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

There is 8 chromosome in the cells. Each chromosome as one DNA molecules. Thats why 8 molecules of DNA and has 16 strands are present in the 8 chromosomes

Now, the DNA replication occurs in the interphase. This leads to formation of 16 molecules of DNA.

Now in the telophase 1, there are 8 chromosomes present. That's why 16 DNA molecules and 32 strands of DNA are present in telophase.

When the cytokinesis is completed, then 8 DNA molecules and 16 strands are found in one daughter cell.
