The proteins that coat the lipid droplet in adipocytes are called:
A. |
perilipins |
|
B. |
ATGL |
|
C. |
HSL |
|
D. |
PKA |
Answer-
Option A - perilipin
Perilipin is a protein that coats surface of lipids . it is encoded by gene PLIN1 which is expressd in adipocytes and found abundantly on adipocytes. Perilipin regulates breakdown of lipids in cells and also mobilisation of fat . Phosphorylation of perilipin causes lipolysis and coats lipid drplets to prevent degradation by protein enzyme HSL.
ATGL , HSL , PKA are protein enzymes associated with metabolism of lipids.
