Most fatty acids are an even number of carbons in length. How many carbon atoms are there in the molecule that contributes most of the carbon atoms to a fatty acid?

Answer #1

Ans. Very Long Chain Fatty Acid (VLCFA) is the longest chained fatty acid having 22 carbon or more. Biosynthesised in the Endoplasmic reticulum, too long to metabolise in mitochondria an dmust be metabolized in peroxisomes. The  odd-chain fatty acid Ceroplastic acid has the most carbon, that is 35 carbon. The even chain fatty acid with most carbon is Ghedoic acid, with carbon atom count of 34.
