GLP 1 is glucagon like peptide.

They are secreted by L cells located in distal ileum and colon. Also seen in duodenum and jejunum. They are secreted into hepatic portal system.

They stimulate insulin secretion and inhibit glucagon resulting in lowering of blood glucose.

GLP1 is an incretin. Half life is only 2 minutes.

GLP 1 inhibits gastric emptying. Digested nutrients inturn stimulate L cells. GLP1 ensures beta cells of pancreas get replenished by promotinginsulin gene transcription.

GLP 1 Inhibit acid secretion in stomach.

GLP 1 inhibit gastric motility.

GLP 1 has got actions in many other organs as heart, muscle, liver, brain etc.
