Does tryptophan attenuation regulate the Trp operon in CIS or in TRANS? Explain your reasoning

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The tryptophan regulates regulate the TRP Operon in cis manner. Because trpL sequence is found to be in close Vicinity to the structural and promoter gene. It regulates the trp operon activity by translation mediated attenuation. When the high tryptophan is found, then it will not allow RNA polymerase to proceed transcription of mRNA to structural genes whereas in case of high tryptophan, there is found continuous synthesis of mRNA upto the structural genes.
