Sydney Brenner worked for establishing C. elegans a nematode as a model organism for genetic researches.

During thag he found out UNC genes in the nematode which helped later in many discoveries and decoding the genetic code and proteins formed etc. He was given noble price for this work , along with Hovittz and Sulston, in Medicine in 2002.

At the time of seminar he was working on the evolutionary time scale and different evolutionary events which are considered important.
