Population and community:

In ecology,population refers to individuals of a given single species living in a given place and in a given time.In ecology, a community is an assemblage or association of populations of two or more different species occupying the same geographical area and in a particular time, also known as a biocoenosis.The term community has a variety of uses.

Community:

• Different members of a community are morphologically and behaviourally dissimilar.
• Interbreeding is absent amongst different members of a community.
• It is larger unit of organization.
• In a biotic community there is often a relationship of eating and being eaten.

Population:

• All the individuals of a population are morphologically and behaviourly similar.
• Individuals of a population interbreed freely.
• It is a small unit of organization.
