Answer #1

The Genbank is a central hub for accessing nearly all molecular and literature resources for a particular gene. Following are the question how to use data's from Genbank:

  1. To find gene location (i.e chromosome and position) in the genome assembly
  2. To know information about Reference genomic, transcript and protein sequences of the gene
  3. About variations present in the gene and how they are associated with disease
  4. About the tissues and under what conditions is the gene expressed
  5. To know about equivalent genes (homologs) in other species

Most of the sequences find 95-96% of matched identity and a few have of 80-85%. Some gene sequences (as with animals and microorganisms) are not deposited in GenBank so 99-100% match is not always possible. Still match obtained sequences to species/genus or at least family. Sequences are of good quality so mismatch is a rare possibility.
