  1. ________ cells lack a membrane-enclosed nucleus.

    Prokaryotic

    Eukaryotic

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Prokaryotic cells lack a membrane- enclosed nucleus.

Prokaryotic vs eukaryotic cells :-
• Prokaryotic cells are primitive cells. These cells lack membrane bound cell organelles and nucleus. The DNA of prokaryotic cell is free moveable in cell. Nucleoid is the region in prokaryotic cells where DNA is found.
• In eukaryotic cells, membrane bound cell organelles and nucleus is present. DNA is present in nucleus. Nucleus regulates all the functions of cell.
• In prokaryotic cells processes like DNA replication, transcription and translation all these occur in cytoplasm whereas in eukaryotic cells DNA replication and transcription occur in nucleus and translation occur in cytoplasm.
• Due to presence of membrane bound cell organelles, eukaryotic cells able to regulate cell processes more efficiently then prokaryotic cells.
