Food like sugars are prepared from inorganic molecules like CO2 and H2O with the help of chlorophyll in presence of sunlight.

Organisms prepare their own food in this type of nutrition.

Chlorophyll pigment is required for this nutrition.

Eg. All plants and some bacteria have this mode of nutrition.

Heterotrophic nutrition -

Organisms do not require any particular things or condition.

They do not prepare their own food and depend on autotrophs for their nutrition directly or indirectly.

Chlorophyll is not required.

Eg. All animals and fungi have this mode of nutrition.
