Homework Answers

Answer #1

A germinating seed is taking in water and oxygen to use sugar for energy and gives off carbon dioxide.

The seeds by the process of aerobic respiration generates energy from the sugar and uses that energy in its growth. The carbon dioxide gas produced by the aerobic respiration is excreted by the seeds to the atmosphere.

Water helps in running of many metabolic processes in the seeds, which helps in their germination.

Only some light sensitive seeds breaks their dormancy on exposure to sun light and germinates, otherwise the sunlight don't have such a great effect on seed germination.
